There were artifacts and coins to find and collect. The tasks were very creative. I give the graphics and music an A+. There was just enough eeriness and spookiness to keep the game interesting for every second of game play. The special glasses for anomalies added to the interesting aspects of the game.
The storyline was of great interest to me. As in every emergency, the police are the first line of defense, and this game was no exception. Even in the face of death and other great danger, the police were tireless in their pursuit of a remedy.
One of the most interesting and fun things in the game so far was a hamster powered battery charger. It was so creative and so much fun.
I highly recommend this to all hidden object lovers. I couldn't buy this game fast enough.

So much so that I played when I should have been doing other things Most of the games that come out now I found incredibly boring but about one in ten grabs my attention and this was one of them. Loved the story line, most of the games and the hidden object puzzles were good and I enjoyed finding the coins and spending them too. It did seem quite a long game so value for money. Try the demo and see if it's for you. I know a lot of people didn't like it but you can't please all of the people all of the time but this person was certainly pleased by it. Show less

The Mystery Tales are a series dealing with supernatural occurrances, behind which mostly an evil mind is to be found. The player acts as a detective, specialized in these cases and equipped with a tool: the glasses, used to see into the spectral world, and see the past events, leading to the present situation.
And here we are in Twola, a formerly dying small city, resurrected around a company (Twola TV Company) Our friend Nathalie has called us for support in a case of mysterious deaths with only one criterion in commen: people were sitting in front of their TV sets, when they died. So off we go.
Arriving at Nathalie’s place, she asks us in to give more details to the mysterious case, but before we can follow her in, we witness an accident? The TV emits a radiation that envelops Nathalie. The door shuts. After making our way in, we start investigating: our friend has collapsed, the TV is broken. As we look at the scene through our glasses, a creepy sequence arises: rays come out of the television like an octopus, embracing Nathalie and drawing out her life force. We need to know more and contact the police. Together with Kevin Stevens, who contributes facts to the other cases, we visit the scenes of the events. The unexplained deaths began when Twola TV gave away televisions on the occasion of its fifth anniversary. Prof Landon was the first. He was critical of the company, accusing them of mind control using the devices. Of course there is more behind this company, as it seems at first glance.
The investigation of the ‘killer televisions sets’ or better, the deaths in connection with the devices proceeds with quite creative and varied HOS and many challenging puzzles. As usual you may choose your difficulty. On the whole it is a fast paced game, though in some sections of the game the plot proceeds in small steps, when you need to find the screw, then one part, then the other part of your much needed pliers.
Many collectables, good visuals and suiting music round up the package. For me a thrilling addition to the series.

Hello friends! As usual, I review mostly on the game play and leave the story line to others. Is my count off, or is this really #9 in this series? We have excellent graphics, even with the slight blur when going in and out of close ups. Lovely, clear and true colors, not too bright or over done. Very nice voices, but not a lot of character interaction. Our "bad guy" has a very sinister sound, and our characters have emotion in their dialog, very well done. You can click through most dialog if you read faster than they speak and not really miss any clues. Animation is quite realistic in facial and body movements, except the puppy is a bit stiff. Sound FX are very well done and pretty much throughout the entire game. Music isn't bad, but I always turn it down. I much prefer hearing the sfx and voices when we have them. We have glasses that we must use to see past events, in order to learn what is happening and why, as well as collect needed items to progress in the game. There is an odd little whiny sound when there is an area to look at...sort of weird, but not a deal breaker.
HOPs were somewhat different, fun and varied. We had interactive lists, "swatch" match (for lack of a better description) and finding parts. Very nice combination. If you don't care for the HOPs, you can switch to the match 3 game. Puzzles were fun and often challenging, and some were a little different than what we are use to. We can choose between easy and hard. Even on easy, I found a couple quite challenging and thought provoking. We have our perfect map that indicates which area has a collectible that was missed. Areas are well identified and of course we do use it as a jump map. Hint system is very helpful and actually gives you a hint rather than telling you to move on, or nothing more here.
Collectibles are well done and not as easy to find as you may think. Yes, this is where we have a lot of challenge. We have to find 108 coins in order to put our college back together, and it is quite the mess. These aren't hard to find, you just have to remember to look for them. We also have 12 various and creepy artifacts to find. These morph quickly and are easy to miss. We also have demonic pages from a book. These can be a bit small and easy to overlook.
I really like this series and I have them all. The story in this addition is a bit different, but moves a little slowly. Even at that, the story flows quite well and we are constantly on the move, so I didn't really get bored. This game has enough to keep you interested and moving. I think all levels of players will find this entertaining and worth the CE price. I gave it a 4.25 this time. Yes, I am adding this to my collection.
As always, try it for yourself and see what you think. We all have different tastes in games and you may not care for it at all. Thanks for the reviews. Show less

The plot is nothing I haven't seen before (supernatural, people collapsing/being overcome, spectral fogs and features), but it's a nice soothing game for those looking for the truly casual experience. It's fine for what it is. The main reason I've rated it somewhat low is the tasks are incredibly "been there/done that." All within the first twenty or so minutes: glass shard that needs something to pick it up, HO in a car trunk, digging something up, applying oil to rust, screwing something in, unfriendly cat, long thin object to hook something far away, picking a lock with a hairpin. I wish more developers would stretch a little bit and come up with more interesting/challenging tasks. But if you don't mind that, it's a decent game. Show less

6 Chapters Plus a Bonus Chapter
OVERVIEW: Want a free television? They are free to all the citizens of Twola; however, this gift comes with a price. These “freebies” may be responsible for the death of the town’s citizens. People are dropping dead in front of these free televisions. Play a detective who is called in to investigate these deaths by her friend, a paranormal investigator. This mystery has many suspects who may be behind these deaths including the head of the television station and a mad physicist.

THIS GAME NEEDS ADJUSTING AND FINE TUNING: Hopefully Domini will readjust and fine tune the graphics in future games. This game is old school in design. There are black bars and some of the scenes are blurry as well. This game should appeal to those who like mystery games or those who like the paranormal. However, for me, this is a pass. I am an “aficionada” of Domini Games; however, for me, this one misses the mark. I was shocked how poorly constructed it is. I do not find it in the same caliber as most of their other games. The story is interesting and does engage in the conspiracy theory of mind control via electronic devices. However, for me the pace of this game is slow. I could not wait until the end of the demo to resume watching a movie on television. At least I won’t “die” of boredom watching a movie.
MECHANICS: You can customize the level of difficulty for the puzzles within the game’s main menu. However, you can still adjust the difficulty of the puzzle if you find it too easy or too hard. There are two collectibles. You collect one hundred eight (108) coins (gee, are you certain these are enough?) and twelve (12) artifacts. Again, there are indicators on the inventory bar to indicate if there are any of the collectibles within the scene. Personally, I would rather see another collectible and morphing objects. I hate collecting coins to purchase items. You can replay nineteen (19) HOP scenes and nineteen (19) puzzles. There are sixteen (16) wallpapers and thirty-eight (38) achievements to earn.
GIMMICKY GLASSES: They’re back! As in previous games, you receive a gimmicky pair of glasses which allow you to see the past. Many developers are offering some device to see hidden objects or past events. Personally, I am tired of these gimmicks. I would love to see them all disappear!
HOP SCENES: There are six (6) in the demo and five (5) are lists of items and one is a silhouette. I found most of the scenes lacking creativity. They are the same ones seen in many games. Most are standard lists of items with little interactivity. You can play a Match-3 game in lieu of the puzzles. There is one in the demo which I did enjoy. Instead of searching for the usual list of items or silhouette items, in this scene you search for pieces of the scene.
PUZZLES: There are fifteen (15) I the demo. Most of the puzzles can be played in either a hard or casual mode. Some of the puzzles are creatively designed and some are not. I was not wowed by the puzzles (even if they provide for two modes of difficulty) and I did not feel they were thematic. There is one challenging one I did enjoy, however. It is one in which you must copy a given pattern by moving tokens on a grid. The tokens can only move to certain locations, and with so many tokens, I felt is was difficult.
HERE ARE THE DETAILS (SPOILERS) FOR THOSE WANT SAMPLES OF PUZZLES FROM THE DEMO:
PUZZLES: Most of the puzzles have the choice between easy and hard. Here are SOME of the puzzles within the demo: There are too many puzzles to list all of them.
A. Storybook puzzle. Search and connect items listed in yellow on a bulletin board. There are four items for each item listed to be found.
B. Switch puzzle. Switch pictures to match up with their silhouette on a wall.
C. Map puzzle. Follow directions and plot a path to get to the police station.
D. Matching puzzle. Following a diagram position a policeman as shown within the diagram.
E. Switch puzzle. Switch pieces of a picture to restore the picture. Not that easy as you will need to press a button for the picture to come together as one unit.
F. Logic puzzle. Using three dials with holes upon them, turn and position them so that six (6) each of two items are revealed through the holes.
G. Everybody is doing it! Assembly puzzle. Rotate four (4) dials on a safe to combine two parts of items on them to produce four images around the safe.
H. Assembly puzzle. On a grid, move tokens so they are in position as indicated on a schematic. However, you can only move tokens to certain locations which are indicated to you. There are many tokens to move in the difficult mode, so it is a difficult puzzle.
I. Logic puzzle. From a sheet a paper with three columns, choose the correct three words (one from each column) which are the password for a computer. Trial and error

Ever get that creepy vibe that somebody's watching you? What if your television was responsible? What if something otherworldly had the ability to use our televisions as a means to visit our world from The Other Side? Those "what if's" may have become what now's, in the town, that a corporation grew a city around. A corporation that coincidentally manufactures cutting edge, technologically advanced televisions! Natalie Stein, a paranormal Investigator, knew she was in over her head, investigating this strange phenomena solo, so she called for reinforcements from the best....you!
Once again, somebody in the graphics department, got a little crazy with the blues and purples. Not just a splash here, a dab there, I'm talking about blue hues on top of purple hues, layered with a few more coats of blue, and a half a gallon of purple...and the other half of it poured on for some final touches. The good news is that all that color goes well with those stupid Glasses. The ones that not only allow you to see the exact glimpse of the exact past event you need, but also allows you to interact with, and use, items that were there in the past, but not the present! Hmf, that's more impressive than the killer TV!
In this Collector's Edition version, there are Morphing Demonic Artifacts, Coins to collect and buy virtual items for your College Yard (huh?) Missing Demonic Grimoires Pages and of course several Missing Note pages that ALWAYS get swept away right from the get go. Doesn't this lady own a stapler? You can choose whether or not you want an indicator icon for these extra features, on the Custom Setting mode.
The Hidden Object Scenes are varied with Interactive List finds, Keywords in Sentence finds and even finding areas in the scene that match the swatches shown. There is an alternative Match 3 game offered as well.
The Mini Games are available in an Easy or Hard mode, and on the Custom difficulty mode setting, you can choose one or the other to automatically start out with, but you still get the option to switch it for each puzzle. (if you selected Easy mode, the mini games will automatically appear in the Easy mode, and you'll have to select the Hard mode if you want to change it for a particular puzzle) Below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo:
1) Select lock pins, upper and lower, in the correct sequence.
2) Use arrows to rotate paths and swap gems to colored slots.
3) Swap picture frames to match the silhouetted shapes.
4) Find icons on a map to match keywords (ridiculous path!)
5) Adjust the arms, legs and head positions to match picture.
6) Swap inner and outer puzzle sections to swap.
7) Rotate discs to show correct number of icons through holes
8) Rotate circles to combine images shown on the sides.
This Collector's Edition version has 16 Wallpapers, 14 Concept Art pictures, 5 Music Soundtracks, 19 re-playable Hidden Object Scenes, 19 re-playable Mini Games, 38 Achievements to Earn, 12 Morphing Demonic Cult Artifacts, 108 collectible Coins to buy items for a College Yard (totally makes sense) Missing Note Pages and Demonic Grimoires Pages, 6 Main Chapters, a Bonus Chapter and a built in Strategy Guide.

Free evil TVs, people dying, demons want to come back to life, and you get to investigate. That's pretty much the plot in a nutshell.
Good stuff: The artwork on the car interior in the driving scenes was good.
Bad stuff: Domini Games has killed logic, buried it, and put up an engraved monument. I figured this out in the police station, right after I got the hamster food out of the frosted minifrig and the hamster charged my batteries for me! Don't ask what it took to open the first aid kit.
Just in case I wasn't sure that logic was dead, I entered Professor Landon's lab, where I had to freeze the refrigerator lock with Nitrogen, hunt up a hammer to break the frozen lock, mix ingredients into rust remover, use the rust remover on a locked box in a locked cabinet in another room, take the hint for the sprinkler system out, use the hint on the sprinkler puzzle, to finally put out a fire started by a demon! I'd already fed the professor's hungry puppy with a single bare bone, taken him outside to bury it, and had the puppy dig the bone's hole right where I thought something was buried. (I was right, but illogically unhappy.)
Add the fact that the artwork is still over-colored and tends to fuzz out in psychic scenes and between locations; that you will have to perform a whole list of trite actions seen in most other games; that the majority of puzzles were more exercises in placement than intellectual challenges; and Domini will have one unhappy player - me.
Bottom line: Even the usual cheerleaders aren't happy with this game.
